At American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) we are privileged to welcome international colleagues and students into our university. Our diverse, international community fosters an important global perspective on healthcare—one that contributes to culturally-sensitive and socially responsible physicians.

I understand that some of you may be concerned by the Executive Order temporarily banning some immigrants from seven majority Muslim countries (Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen) and suspending the entrance of all refugees to the United States. AUC is closely monitoring this situation as it develops and I am working with DeVry Education Group to understand any ramifications this may have on travel and our students’ ability to complete their medical education.

I will keep the AUC community informed on this matter as more information becomes available. In the meantime, if you have specific questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly at executivedean@aucmed.edu

Sincerely,

Heidi Chumley, MD
