Dr. Paul Nanda, Corporate Medical Director of Fast Track Urgent Care in Tampa, FL and a 2003 graduate of American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC), will speak at this year’s Commencement Ceremony.
Dr. Nanda’s medical career has been considerably shaped by a dedication and commitment to global health. While attending AUC, he took advantage of the clinical training program in the United Kingdom and completed core rotations in London. He then completed his family medicine residency at The Ohio State University and received three of eight awards within the Department of Family Medicine, including the Dr. Tennyson Williams Outstanding Resident Award and the Dr. Bryan Beggin Community Service Award. Dr. Nanda became one of the school’s first family medicine residents to complete an international rotation—ultimately shaping his next role as OSU’s Director of Global Health Education for the Department of Family Medicine.
Dr. Nanda’s personal global health contributions are significant and numerous, including HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis care to patients in Sub-Saharan Africa; medical rescue courses in the remote jungles of Belize; disaster relief services following the earthquake in Haiti; urgent care in low socioeconomic areas of New Zealand; and leading a team of 45 medical students on a month-long mission trip to remote Northern India.
Now, as Medical Director of Fast Track Urgent Care, he oversees five physician-owned clinics serving more than 40,000 patients annually across urban and suburban regions of Tampa Bay.
AUC will hold two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 28: at 9:30 a.m. EDT and at 2:30 p.m. EDT. Events will take place at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in St. Maarten.
